Chair: Vuyo Jayiya, Durban, South Africa Vuyo Jayiya is a South Africa-based professional working for eThekwini Municipality as a Deputy Head: Agribusiness, specializing in Finance, Agri and Economic Development, with 15 years of experience in economic development includes enterprise development, business counseling, business plan development, sector development (Agriculture, Manufacturing, Retail and Property Development), Town Centre and Township regeneration. Vuyo is Qualified with a Public Finance National Diploma, a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Business Administration and a Post Grad Diploma in Finance, Banking and Investment Management and is passionate about making practical changes to evolving socio-economic challenges. Speakers/Cities: Mr. Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Municipal Commissioner - Encroachment Department, Pune Municipal Corporation, India Urban food Pilot funded by World Bank. Mr. Madhav Jagtap is Dy. Municipal Commissioner at PMC. He is heading the encroachment removal department and Mandai department. Mahatma Phule Mandai (formerly known as Lord Reay\'s Market) is the biggest retail vegetable market with 526 stalls of fruits and vegetables in the city of Pune, India. The market is housed in an iconic building from the British colonial era in the Shukrawar Peth locality in the center of the city. Mr. Jagtap is also the nodal officer for the Urban Food Pilot project funded by the World bank. He has more than 25 years of experience in Pune Municipal Corporation. Catherine Mzumara, Strategical Lead for Mzuzu Food City, Mzuzu, Malawi How Mzuzu City is planning to build a sustainable food system amidst numerous challenges Catherine Mzumara is the Executive Director of WISA (Women In Sustainable Agriculture), an organisation which is pioneering agribusinesses by, through and with Women farmers. WISA is geared to empower women farmers in building their capacity in terms of best farming practices, sustainable farming, as well as how best to mitigate climate change. She is also a Researcher and a Farmer. Above all else, she is a strategical Lead for Mzuzu Food City. Dr Rosemary Jenkins, Public Health Officer – Food System Team, Birmingham, UK: How the food economy has been included in the ambitions and aims of the new Birmingham Food System Strategy, and how this plays out in the workstreams and approach of the strategy. Dr Rosemary Jenkins is a Public Health Officer in the Food Systems Team in the Public Health division at Birmingham City Council. Her role in this team has involved developing the food system strategy, taking a lead on the Cook the Commonwealth campaign aiming to encourage Birmingham citizens to come together to celebrate the city’s cultural diversity through cooking food from around the world (as part of the Commonwealth Games legacy), and organising the Creating a Healthy Food City forum workshops. She is also passionate about mitigating food insecurity in the city and is involved in work to improve people’s ability to access and afford healthy food. Rosemary holds a PhD in Public Health from Imperial College London, where she investigated the impacts of the UK government’s austerity policies on food insecurity, diets, and health outcomes. Mr. Amit Arora, Commissioner of Rajkot, Rajkot Municipal Corporation, India Mr. Arora graduated in B.Tech Computer Science with 1st Division and M.Tech in Computer Science with 1st Division from IIT Bombay. He joined Indian Administrative Services (IAS) in 2012. He has held various positions as District Development Officer, Regional Commissioner and Collector from 2014 to 2021 and presently Working as Municipal Commissioner, Rajkot Municipal Corporation from 24th June, 2021 till date. Under his leadership Rajkot is taking various resilient initiatives to fight climate change including; development of dense urban forest, installation of Solar based power plant, conversion of 100% public transport fleet through E-Buses and Provision for last mile connectivity through Public bicycle and E-Autos.'See also:
