'A complete journey from Mumbai CST to Karmali by the inaugural run of the Hi Tech and luxurious Tejas Express whose coaches are capable of doing 200 kmph. The train has various new features that have been implemented for the first time in Indian Railways. 1. Automatic Doors 2. Entertainment System Onboard 3. CCTV Cameras inside the coaches 4. Smoke sensors 5. 200 kmph fit coaches 6. Free wifi for the passengers (already in HWH Rajdhani) The food that is provided in the train is a class apart from the regular food that is provided by IRCTC. During its regular run, it departs Mumbai CST at 5 AM and reaches Karmali at 1:30 PM with halts at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri and Kudal. For the inaugural run, the train departed at 1607 hours (4:07 PM) from Mumbai CST and reached Karmali at 0018 hours (12:18 AM). The train was hauled by twin WDM3D from Kalyan Diesel Loco Shed, numbered 11359 and 11390. While GPS said that the train did 115 kmph, my conversation with the loco pilot made me know that 110 kmph was the top speed. However, it will be given WDP3A class locomotives soon and the speed will be upped to 120 kmph. When Tejas is introduced between Delhi and Chandigarh, it is expected to clock 180-200 kmph. The luxurious train, Tejas Express, will start running between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Karmali in North Goa on May 22. All preparations have been done for the launch of the 20-coach train, which will have secured gangways, automatic doors, and 22 new features. According to Central Railway officials, the coaches have been manufactured in the Indian Coach Factory, Perambur, Chennai. The train will run at a speed of 130kmph and will cover the distance in nearly eight and a half hours. “The coaches will have bio-vaccum toilets, water level indicators, tap sensors, and hand dryers. Such facilities and features are the first of its kind in the Indian Railways,” said the officials. The five-day-a-week train will depart from CST at 5 a.m. and reach Karmali at 1.30 p.m. Similarly, it will leave Karmali at 2.30 p.m. and reach CST at 11 p.m. #IndianRailways #Tejas #TejasExpress'
