One very common problem is the back portion of the shoulder capsule becoming tight. When the posterior shoulder capsule becomes tight, it can then cause the top part of your Humerus bone to travel forward. Your proximal humerus being pushed forward more can increase your chances of getting shoulder injuries over time and lead to shoulder pain. A great way to loosen up your the rear portion of your shoulder capsule is to do a joint mobilization technique on yourself. This joint mobilization that you will do on yourself is very easy to perform. First, get a dumbbell and lay on your back. Then, holding that dumbbell in one hand, bring it directly vertical over your shoulder. In this position, make sure your shoulder is touching the floor. From here, hold this position for 2 minutes if possible. You should not have pain while doing this on yourself. While doing this exercise, you will feel the back portion of the shoulder capsule loosening up more. Over time, your proximal humerus should be set in a more correct position, which may help to address shoulder pain issues you are having.
