'It’s a New Year and making New Year’s resolutions for losing weight, or losing body fat or generally getting fit is something many of us are planning right now. Follow these top 5 tips for success in crushing your fitness, physique and health goals in 2021! Focus on a positive mindset and belief in yourself. Positive or negative is where you win or lose. Work on a positive mindset. Train your subconscious. Put aside the doubts and start telling yourself that you can do this. Visualize what you want instead of dwelling on things you\'ve not accomplished in the past Set realistic targets: Whether deciding on how much weight you want to lose, how much muscle you want to build, or what you want to look like, or figuring out the time frame. and the time frame, the most important thing is to keep it reasonable. Keep it real, but make sure it’s very specific so that you know you\'re making progress. Make it a number if you can. If it’s something that’s harder to nail down as a number, something like having a goal to live a healthier life., make sure you understand exactly what that means to you - be in implementing nutritional habits, activity habits, mental health practices - no matter what, write it down and be as clear as you can. Let go of the idea of being perfect from day one. Perfection is not the goal - consistency with small steps is the goal. Use that approach and you’ll make progress every day. Realize at the same time that this will not be an easy road. You will have a relapse at some point. It’s going to happen. Plan for it. When it happens, let go of it and avoid feelings of guilt - do not spiral out of control.More importantly and productively, learn something from the experience and use what you learn to plan for how to handle similar situations in the future. Your sleep and stress management is far more important than you think. Don’t be the person who thinks that the only thing that really matters is getting your workouts done, or making your workouts excessively long or difficult. Forget about the complexity. I guarantee that what you need is laser focus on the basics: Sleep enough, and well - at least 7 hours per night! Focus your nutrition on mostly single ingredient foods Ask yourself whether you know how to get to where you want to be. You need a plan that’s designed for your goals. Create an approach that will work for you, but take the time to actually map it out so you’ve got something to hold yourself accountable to. Make sure you check the assumptions you make for your plan! With those things dialed in, you’re guaranteed to accomplish what you set out to do. There’s also no need to truly reinvent the wheel. Ask for advice, but always ask why. Take advice, but apply it to the reality of your life. If efficiency is what you need most, hire a good coach to guide you through the process, but accept the responsibility that coaches are guides - the hard work is always going to be yours!
