'This recorded live-streamed YogaX class with Chris is the first class in a series dedicated to cultivating resilience in all of the layers of self (or koshas), including the physical body, energetic and affective body, mind and emotions, intuition and inner wisdom, and joy. The class was live-streamed in September 2020. One way to define resilience is the ability to thrive after adversity, to withstand pressure and stress, and to recover from the experience of challenge in a manner that protects or even enhances wellbeing. Resilient individuals respond adaptively and creatively during times of stress and can quickly return to equanimity. They are able to sustain or improve psychological and physical health after the experience of intense stress, even trauma. This series explores how yoga practice fosters the capacity for resilience by inviting the cultivation of positive traits and strengths. In this class, focus is on supporting skills that foster resilience in the body – such as reregulating the nervous system and returning to homeostasis. Breath focus is on recognizing the manifestation of breath in the body as movement or sensation. Physical focus is on grounding, expansion, and stability as the essences of healthful, resilient movement that supports physical health and wellness. Asanas include twisting forward folds, table top variations, and seated twists, ending with a restorative bridge pose, among others. Helpful props include 2 blocks (or substitutes), a strap, and a blanket or small pillow. Participation implies that you have read and consent to the Stanford Assumptions of Risk, Release of Claims, and Hold Harmless Agreement found at https://www.yogaxteam.com/healthandsafetyinformation.'
