'S2-GF2022 - The Blue Economy: Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems for Food'

'Coastal people have been reliant on oceans for food for centuries. It is interwoven with identity, cultural values, livelihoods, and sustainability. With the increasing pressure from overfishing, pollution, and most critically climate change, our oceans\' health has been severely impacted. We are at a crossroads and we must determine sustainable ways to re-vitalize the fisheries and aquaculture sector by finding innovative means to manage harvest and monitor our aquatic resources. This session brings together experts in fisheries science, genomics, seaweed aquaculture, economics and policy.   In this session the participants discuss the impact of climate change, current socio-economic challenges, and emerging technologies that can help restore marine health, reduce emissions, promote sustainability, and preserve our vital aquatic resources.'
