'The Simcoe County Food and Agriculture Steering Committee took the initial steps in the creation of the first draft of a made-in-Simcoe County Food and Agriculture Charter at a visioning day held at Lakehead University on Feb. 21, 2012. Guest speaker Neil Currie, General Manager of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, and co-chair of the National Food Strategy project, in collaboration with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, spoke to the crowd on the importance of developing a comprehensive plan to address issues such as the impacts of urban development, and the availability of food both domestically and abroad.'
